Embarcadero Technologies has signed a definitive asset purchase agreement with Borland Software Corporation (NASDAQ: BORL) to purchase its CodeGear division. The transaction is expected to close in 30 to 60 days. With more than $100 million in annual revenue and over 500 employees worldwide, the combined companies will operate under the Embarcadero Technologies name.

FAST Search & Transfer Tender Offer Completed
Microsoft Corp. has completed settlement of its tender offer for Fast Search & Transfer ASA. Microsoft’s plans to acquire FAST were originally announced Jan. 8, 2008. FAST will operate as a Microsoft subsidiary, with a dedicated enterprise search research and development center in Oslo, Norway, and offices throughout the world.
John Markus Lervik will transition from his role as FAST CEO to become Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Enterprise Search, reporting to Teper. Under Lervik’s leadership, the group’s charter will include the development of a comprehensive portfolio of enterprise search offerings, including Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express, search for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and FAST ESP, and future delivery of a single enterprise search platform.
Informatica To Acquire Identity Systems
Nokia and Informatica have signed an agreement for Informatica to acquire Identity Systems, headquartered in Greenwich, CT. Identity Systems became a subsidiary of Nokia in February 2006 as part of Nokia's acquisition of Intellisync. Informatica will acquire all of the capital stock of Identity Systems in a cash transaction valued at approximately USD 85 million.
Identity Systems is a global leader in enterprise software development for identity resolution, providing fast, highly accurate and scalable solutions to profile, cleanse, group, match and consolidate data within computer systems and network databases.
Diligent Technologies Acquired By IBM
IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced it has acquired Diligent Technologies, a privately held storage "de-duplication" technology company headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts with research and development located in Tel Aviv, Israel. Diligent's technologies and employees will become part of the IBM System Storage business unit of the IBM Systems and Technology Group. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Acquisition of Danger, Inc. Completed
Microsoft Corp. has completed its acquisition of Danger, Inc.
Danger will become a part of the new Premium Mobile Experiences (PMX) team, a group within the Mobile Communications Business (MCB) of the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft. The PMX team focuses on consumer-facing mobile projects and is led by Roz Ho, corporate vice president of Premium Mobile Experiences, reporting to Andy Lees, senior vice president of the MCB. Danger co-founders Matt Hershenson and Joe Britt will join the new organization, reporting directly to Ho.
FilesX To Be Acquired By IBM (NYSE: IBM)
IBM (NYSE: IBM) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire FilesX, a privately held storage software company based in Newton, Mass., and Haifa, Israel, that specializes in continuous data protection and nearly instant data and application recovery software for enterprises and remote/branch offices. The acquisition is expected to close shortly. Financial terms were not disclosed.
EMC and Iomega, Acquisition
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) and Iomega Corporation (NYSE: IOM) have entered into a definitive agreement for EMC to acquire San Diego-based Iomega in a cash tender offer of $3.85 per outstanding share, or approximately $213 million.
EMC intends to commence the tender offer in the next two weeks, with completion of the tender offer expected in the second quarter of 2008, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals. The acquisition is expected to have no material impact on EMC financial results for the full 2008 fiscal year.
SunEdison Acquired Renewable NRG
SunEdison acquired the business of Renewable NRG™, a leading solar company in Portland.

This strategic acquisition provides imeem with powerful content identification technology, a comprehensive Digital Registry, and an enhanced team of executive and engineering talent. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition also expands the mix of products and services the imeem social network offers to artists and music labels to help them take advantage of new opportunities to market, promote and make money from their music through widgets and applications.
Hitachi ID Systems, Inc.
Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT / TSE: 6501, "Hitachi") has acquired a majority ownership interest in M-Tech Information Technology, Inc. ("M-Tech"). The transaction adds M-Tech's identity management software and services to Hitachi's information security solutions portfolio.
Effective April 2, 2008, M-Tech's name has been changed to Hitachi ID Systems, Inc. ("Hitachi ID").
